No U.S. PS 2 games in the European version of PS3?

I have a PS2 and a lot of games in America. I currently live in France, so I wonder if my playing on the European version of the PS3 … Should I buy?

coding region has been disabled PS3 games for PS3. But this does not work PS2 games. If you have a Euro PS3, which can play any region PS3. But you can not play PS2 games in the U.S.. I learned this the hard way. I bought a copy of NamcoXCapcom on Ebay. The Game was released only in Japan. It will not play on my PS3 in America. But I bought imported PS3 games work fine.
